Artist Bio

Picture
I make creatures as a way to digest the world around me.  They come from a compulsory desire to translate my observations into a new form. They are vessels of stored energy, glimpses of nonverbal communication, characters in a mythology of their own. As I question the ideas of origin, identity and beyond, my creatures do the same.
I am interested in the transference of information from my perspective, to their embodiment, to the viewer’s perspective. They have become a receptacle for conversation, a link in the game ‘Telephone’ between me and the one on the other end. The conversation has a life of its own and is never the same between viewers.
Moving forward I seek to provide more of a tangible relationship between the viewer and my objects as I impart them with simple ranges of motion. I am curious how we as humans treat the objects around us and the idea of 'play' permeates in my current work.
I am originally from Jupiter, Florida and growing up around the sand, the fauna, the people, and the theme parks has endeared me and the way I view the world.
